Salesforce Lightning Reports: The 3 Best Features about the New Salesforce Reports and Dashboards

Salesforce Lightning Reports | Salesforce DashboardIn a previous post, we talked a little bit about the new Salesforce Lightning Experience. We want to discuss in detail one of the best new features – the new Salesforce Lightning reports and dashboards. First of all, like the rest of Lightning’s new user interface, reports and dashboards look better than ever. They’re also easier to navigate and edit. They are more interactive too, which makes the data more engaging to read and interpret.

Here are some of its best features:

Multi-column Dashboards

According to Salesforce’s Greg Gsell, a 4-column dashboard was the most requested feature when they asked over 150k of their customers. They didn’t just stop at 4 columns. You can customize the new dashboard with up to 9 columns, allowing you to better compare metrics side-by-side and view large datasets.

Flexible Layouts

The new dashboards in Lightning Experience is built on a responsive grid. You can stretch components, enabling you to add fields and show important data within a component without having to scroll. Charts also resize to match component size. Even with its completely different look, it’s easy to use due to its drag-and-drop interface.

Easier Search and Navigation

You can now leverage interactive filters and charts while you view your reports and dashboards. These filters make it easier to find what you’re looking for without having to edit the report. You can pull the data you need quickly by selecting filters or using the quick tabs. You can also add and change charts while viewing the reports.  Finally, you can easily view reports within list views and page layouts.

These new changes offer an enhanced, mobile-ready interface for reports and dashboards. Don’t worry, making the switch from Classic to Lightning Experience is seamless. Easy migration makes your reports and dashboards automatically viewable. Individual settings like sharing and permissions also apply when viewing reports on the new Salesforce Lightning Experience.
