Introducing HubSpot CPQ: A Smarter Way to Configure, Price, and Quote

HubSpot CPQ: How It Works, What It Includes, and How to Get Started

Editor’s note: This post was originally published in September 2025 and has been fully updated for the Revenue Hub launch in June 2026 to reflect current features, pricing, and product context.

HubSpot CPQ is the native configure, price, and quote tool built into HubSpot’s Revenue Hub. It lets sales reps build accurate, branded quotes directly from a deal record, in minutes, without leaving HubSpot, using AI-generated drafts, pre-configured pricing rules, and built-in approval workflows.

If your team is still quoting in spreadsheets, piecing together proposals in a disconnected tool, or waiting days for approvals to come back, this is the part of HubSpot that changes that.

What Is HubSpot CPQ?

CPQ stands for configure, price, quote. At its core, a CPQ tool does three things: it helps you build accurate quotes (configure), ensures pricing is consistent and governed (price), and delivers a polished proposal to the buyer quickly (quote).

HubSpot CPQ does all of that natively inside HubSpot. That distinction matters. Because it lives inside your CRM, every quote is built on live deal data, the contact, the company, the products discussed, the deal stage. There’s no export, no re-entry, and no integration to maintain.

As of June 2026, HubSpot CPQ is packaged as part of HubSpot Revenue Hub, HubSpot’s connected quote-to-cash system that also includes billing, contracts, and payments. CPQ is one of three pillars in Revenue Hub, and it’s where the revenue process starts: from the first quote to the signed contract to the invoice.

What HubSpot CPQ Includes

CPQ features in Revenue Hub are available at the Professional and Enterprise tiers. Here’s what each includes.

Revenue Hub Professional — $95/seat/year

Professional is built for sales teams that want to standardize quoting, shorten sales cycles, and move faster without adding complexity.

AI-generated quotes. Reps describe what they need in plain language and Breeze, HubSpot’s AI, builds a quote draft using the deal record, your product catalog, and your approved templates. Instead of starting from a blank slate, reps start with an accurate draft and refine from there.

Quote activity tracking. See exactly when a buyer opens a quote, how long they spend on it, and whether they’ve reviewed the pricing section. That visibility lets reps follow up at the right moment instead of guessing.

Standard quote approvals. Configure one approval rule based on quote properties, line items, or deal details, for example, requiring manager sign-off on any quote with a discount above 15%. Reps get real-time feedback when their quote is pending approval and can track status without chasing anyone down.

Quote workflows and reporting. Automate next steps when a quote reaches a certain status, and report on quote performance across your pipeline, win rates, average quote value, time to approval, and more.

Signable quote attachments. Attach supporting documents, scope of work, terms, case studies, directly to the quote. Buyers review and sign everything in one place.

Single-page quote editor. A clean, fast editor that lets reps build quotes without navigating multiple screens. Built for speed, not complexity.

E-signature (25 per user per month). Collect legally binding signatures directly on the quote. No DocuSign, no PandaDoc, no switching tabs.

Tiered pricing. Configure flat or volume-based tiered pricing in your product catalog. Reps can present pricing tiers cleanly without building custom tables for every deal.

Breeze Closing Agent (Beta). A two-function tool. First, it handles quote governance, defining who is authorized to send a quote, who gets deal credit, and how attribution is tracked. Second, it acts as an AI buyer assistant: when buyers have questions about the quote, the Closing Agent can answer them directly using contextual information you configure. Buyers don’t have to wait for a rep to respond to every question.

Price Books (Beta). Create and manage multiple price books for different customer segments, geographies, or deal types. Reps see the right prices for the right deals automatically.

Custom revenue domains. Send quotes from your own branded domain rather than a generic HubSpot URL.

Billing Portal (Beta). A self-service portal where customers can view invoices, manage payment methods, and track billing history.

Revenue Hub Enterprise — $140/seat/year

Enterprise includes everything in Professional, plus:

E-signature (50 per user per month). Double the signature volume for higher-velocity sales teams.

Advanced Approvals. Where standard approvals support one rule with “and” logic, Advanced Approvals uses workflow automation for multi-step, sequential approval chains with dynamic property-driven routing. If your deals require legal, finance, and management sign-off in a specific order, Advanced Approvals handles that. Note: standard and advanced approvals cannot run simultaneously, you choose one model.

Quote Rules (Beta). This is the governance feature for teams with complex pricing constraints. Quote Rules catches errors as the quote is being built — before it goes to a buyer. You can set product compatibility rules (preventing incompatible products from appearing together), pricing and quantity rules (enforcing discount limits and volume thresholds), and choose whether violations block the quote entirely or surface a warning the rep must acknowledge. For RevOps leaders managing margin protection, this is one of the most valuable features in the Enterprise tier.

The Sales Hub + Revenue Hub Bundle Discount

For new customers attaching Revenue Hub to Sales Hub, HubSpot currently offers a 30% promotional discount: Revenue Hub Pro at $57/seat/year and Enterprise at $98/seat/year, billed annually. If your team is already on Sales Hub, this is worth having a conversation about.

How HubSpot CPQ Connects to the Rest of Revenue Hub

CPQ is where the revenue process starts, but it’s designed to hand off cleanly to the rest of the system.

When a rep builds a quote in HubSpot CPQ and the buyer signs it, a contract record is created automatically. That contract tracks committed revenue, renewal dates, and billing schedule. Invoices generate from the contract without manual re-entry. Payment status flows back into the CRM in real time so every team, sales, customer success, finance, sees the same picture.

That connected flow is what makes CPQ inside Revenue Hub different from CPQ as a standalone tool. Standalone CPQ ends at the signature. Revenue Hub CPQ starts at the signature and keeps the data moving forward through billing, collections, and renewal.

What You Need Before Setting Up HubSpot CPQ

CPQ works well when the foundation underneath it is clean. Before you build your first quote template, it’s worth getting these in order.

Product catalog. CPQ pulls from your HubSpot product library. If your products are incomplete, mispriced, or missing descriptions, the quotes your reps build will reflect that. Spend time in your product library before configuring CPQ — add descriptions, confirm pricing tiers, and remove anything outdated.

Pricing logic. How do you actually price deals? Flat fees, tiered by seats, volume discounts, implementation fees on top of subscriptions? Write that down before building it in the system. CPQ is very good at enforcing pricing rules, but it can only enforce rules that are clearly defined.

Approval thresholds. Who needs to approve what? A rep closing a $2,000 deal and a rep closing a $200,000 deal probably shouldn’t go through the same approval process. Define your approval criteria before configuring the workflows.

Deal record completeness. Breeze’s AI quote generation pulls from deal context, company name, contact, products of interest, deal stage. The more complete your deal records, the better the AI-generated drafts will be. If your team isn’t consistently filling in deal properties, this is a good moment to tighten that up.

Quote template design. What should your quotes look like? What sections should they include? What terms go at the bottom? Having a clear answer to these questions before you open the template editor saves significant time.

How to Set Up HubSpot CPQ

Once your foundation is ready, here’s the setup sequence:

Step 1: Build your product library. Add all products and services with accurate names, descriptions, pricing, and billing terms. Set up tiered pricing where applicable.

Step 2: Configure your quote templates. Build branded templates with your logo, color palette, section structure, and standard terms. Create different templates for different deal types if needed.

Step 3: Set up approval rules. Define your approval criteria and configure either standard or advanced approvals depending on your tier and process complexity.

Step 4: Configure Quote Rules (Enterprise). If you’re on Enterprise, define your product compatibility rules, discount limits, and pricing boundaries before quotes go live.

Step 5: Set up the Closing Agent. Define who is authorized to send quotes, configure deal attribution, and set up the AI buyer Q&A context if you’re using the Breeze Closing Agent in beta.

Step 6: Test before rollout. Build a test quote through the full cycle, create, approve, send, sign, before rolling out to the sales team. Catch template issues, approval routing gaps, and pricing errors in the test environment.

Step 7: Train the team. CPQ adoption lives or dies on whether reps actually use it. A focused training session on quote building, the approval process, and how to read quote activity tracking dramatically improves adoption.

When HubSpot CPQ Is the Right Choice

HubSpot CPQ is a strong fit when:

  • You’re already on HubSpot and want quoting to live inside your CRM rather than in a separate tool
  • Your pricing model is fixed, seat-based, or tiered (not consumption or metered, that’s on the Revenue Hub roadmap for later in 2026)
  • You’re a B2B SaaS or services company with 20–500 employees
  • Your current quoting process involves spreadsheets, Word docs, or a disconnected tool like PandaDoc or Google Docs
  • You want Breeze AI to be able to draft quotes using live deal context
  • You want the quote to connect directly to billing and contracts without manual re-entry

Frequently Asked Questions

Does HubSpot CPQ require Revenue Hub? Yes. As of September 2025, CPQ features live exclusively in Revenue Hub Professional and Enterprise seats. New Sales Hub customers no longer get access to legacy HubSpot quotes. Existing Sales Hub customers retain legacy quote access.

Can I use HubSpot CPQ without also using billing and payments? Yes. You can start with CPQ only and add billing and payments later. The value of Revenue Hub compounds when the pillars work together, but you don’t have to adopt all three at once.

How is HubSpot CPQ different from the old HubSpot quotes tool? The legacy HubSpot quotes tool was a basic quoting feature available in Sales Hub. HubSpot CPQ is a significantly more capable system — AI-generated quotes, tiered pricing, approval workflows, quote rules, e-signature, activity tracking, and Breeze Closing Agent. It lives in Revenue Hub, not Sales Hub.

What happens after a quote is signed? When a buyer accepts a quote, a contract record is created automatically. From there, invoices generate, billing begins, and payment status flows back into the CRM. The rep doesn’t need to re-enter anything.

Is Breeze Closing Agent the same as the Closing Agent governance feature? They’re part of the same tool but serve two different functions. The governance side controls who can send a quote and how deal credit is attributed. The Breeze side is an AI assistant that can answer buyer questions about the quote. Both are available in Revenue Hub Professional.
