OPPORTUNITIES

Functional mushrooms
The demand for functional foods, or foods or food ingredients that provide health benefits beyond basic nutrition, is expected to grow at 8.9% CAGR through 2030. One segment, the functional mushroom market, is expected to see even higher growth, at around 11.6% CAGR, due to the growing popularity of mushrooms as a superfood and their starring role in everything from equine/canine supplements to beverages marketed to health-conscious consumers.

Luxury goods
Commodities are traditionally seen as the safest bet during economic uncertainty, but ironically, at the other end of the spectrum, luxury goods also perform well. Luxury goods performance in 2022 was no exception, and the market is expected to hit $75 billion in 2023. Personal luxury goods, such as upscale clothing for older consumers and sneakers for consumers as young as Gen Z, will help keep luxury goods chugging along.

Enhanced water
The bottled water market in the U.S. is estimated at $39 billion. Disruptors who are trying to bring something new to the space, like those who offer healthy hydration options in the enhanced water category, are best suited to grab a slice of the revenue.
